Montréal and Ottawa | May 25–31, 2027
Led by Lève-toi et Brille, L’Afrique en Lumière celebrates African heritage, creativity, and diversity. Building on the cultural and institutional focus of previous editions, the 2027 program will feature cultural exhibits and country showcases, fashion, artistic performances, music, African cuisine, and opportunities for dialogue and networking.
For this edition, the program will take place in Montréal and Ottawa and include an added institutional and economic dimension through cooperation among local governments. The Ottawa segment is planned for May 29–31, with participants returning to Montréal on May 31.
Program flow: Africa Day welcome → cultural exhibits and country showcases → fashion, arts, music, and cuisine → institutional and local-government exchanges.

Africa–Canada Economic Mission: Connecting Local Authorities, Entrepreneurs, Investors and Institutions:
Alongside World Africa Day, Africa Femmes Performantes, Lève-toi et Brille and their institutional partners will convene an economic mission bringing together local authorities, entrepreneurs, investors and institutions. The mission aims to help open and expand Canada’s cooperation with Africa by creating opportunities for dialogue, presenting initiatives and building practical partnerships.
In connection with the work of the United Nations Permanent Forum on People of African Descent, the mission will also support dialogue and initiatives that strengthen ties between people of African descent and the African continent, including work on reparations, reconnection, cooperation and unity.
Mission flow: Convene key partners → share economic priorities and initiatives → build partnerships → advance Canada–Africa cooperation.
